Sat Apr 19 17:03:59 UTC 2025: ## South Korean Businesses Eye Coimbatore for Investment
**COIMBATORE, INDIA (April 19, 2025)** – South Korean businesses are showing significant interest in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu, for potential investment and business partnerships, according to industry representatives. Following a recent meeting between Coimbatore industry association heads and representatives from the Korean Consulate General and the Korean Trade Promotion Organisation, the interest has become more apparent.
While a substantial Korean presence already exists in and around Chennai, particularly in the automotive sector, Coimbatore is now attracting attention. This interest was further fueled by a South Korean delegation’s participation in last year’s agriculture expo organized by the Coimbatore District Small Industries Association.
M. Karthikeyan, president of the Coimbatore District Small Industries Association, noted the existing Korean investments in Chennai, including Korean restaurants and auto part suppliers, suggesting that similar opportunities are being explored in Coimbatore. An official source confirmed that a Memorandum of Understanding was recently signed between a Korean company and a Coimbatore-based firm, indicating potential for joint ventures across various sectors.
Although initial discussions regarding investment took place during last year’s expo, notable progress was limited until this recent renewed interest. The meeting highlighted Coimbatore’s strengths and opportunities to the Korean delegation, aiming to further solidify these burgeoning business ties.
