**Hamilton, Ontario –** A 21-year-old Indian student, Harsimrat Randhawa, was tragically killed by a stray bullet in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada on Wednesday evening. Randhawa, a student at Mohawk College, was waiting at a bus stop when she was struck in the chest by gunfire exchanged between occupants of two vehicles – a black car and a white sedan.
According to Hamilton Police, a passenger in the black car fired shots at the occupants of the white sedan. Both vehicles fled the scene after the shooting. Bullets also struck a nearby residence, though thankfully no one inside was injured.
Randhawa was rushed to the hospital but succumbed to her injuries. The Consulate General of India in Toronto confirmed her death and stated they are providing assistance to her family. Hamilton Police are investigating the incident as a homicide and are appealing to the public for any dashcam or security camera footage from the area between 7:15 p.m. and 7:45 p.m. on Wednesday. The investigation is ongoing.
