Thu Apr 17 05:56:29 UTC 2025: ## Tamil Nadu Fishermen Attacked, Robbed at Sea
**VEDARANYAM, Tamil Nadu, April 17, 2025** – Four Tamil Nadu fishermen were injured and robbed in a mid-sea attack, allegedly by Sri Lankan fishermen, late Wednesday night. The incident occurred approximately 13 nautical miles southeast of Kodiyakarai.
The injured fishermen, identified as S. Ramakrishnan (63), G. Senthil (46), P. Jagan (36), and D. Samuel, arrived back on shore Thursday morning. They received initial treatment at a local Primary Health Centre before being admitted to the Government Hospital in Vedaranyam.
The assailants, described as three unidentified individuals in a boat, allegedly used knives and logs to attack the fishermen. Two of the assailants reportedly spoke Tamil. Stolen items include a GPS device, walkie-talkie, cell phones, a charge light, fishing gear, and fish valued at approximately ₹20,000.
The fishermen had set sail from Kodiyakarai on April 14th. The Vedaranyam Marine Police are currently investigating the incident. The Coastal Security Group is assisting in the investigation.
