Thu Apr 17 07:50:00 UTC 2025: ## Erie Insurance Celebrates Centennial with 100-Tree Planting Project
**ERIE, PA** – Erie Insurance marked its 100th anniversary this month with the planting of its 100th and final tree as part of a significant beautification project. Wednesday morning, company leaders, including Chairman Tom Hagen, gathered to plant a 10-foot colonial spirit elm in front of the Thomas B. Hagan building on the downtown Erie campus.
The project, which spanned two years, saw the planting of 100 shade trees along East 5th and 6th Streets between French and Parade Streets. Mr. Hagen explained the initiative as a response to the loss of trees in the city, stating, “One of the things that has happened over time…is a lot of trees have been taken down, so we thought, let’s plant 100 trees in anticipation of our 100th anniversary.” The colonial elm, chosen for its hardiness in urban settings, represents the culmination of this effort. In addition, Erie Insurance distributed 1,900 trees to employees across its 12-state operating area.
