**New Delhi, India** – Tahawwur Hussain Rana, a key accused in the 2008 Mumbai terror attacks, was extradited from the United States and arrived in India on Thursday evening. The 64-year-old, who had exhausted all legal appeals against extradition, landed at Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport around 6:30 pm and was subsequently presented before the Patiala House Court.
Rana’s arrival marks a significant development in the investigation into the 26/11 attacks, which saw 10 Pakistani terrorists launch a coordinated assault on multiple locations in Mumbai, including a railway station, two luxury hotels, and a Jewish center. The attacks, carried out via sea route, lasted nearly 60 hours and resulted in the deaths of 166 people.
Rana, a close associate of David Coleman Headley (alias Daood Gilani), a key conspirator in the attacks, was brought back to India by a joint team from the National Investigation Agency (NIA) and the Research and Analysis Wing (RAW). He was flown out of the US on a special flight on Wednesday after his final attempt to avoid extradition failed. His extradition is expected to provide crucial insights into the planning and execution of the devastating attacks.
