**New Delhi, April 11, 2025** – Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta announced a major initiative to desilt 22 major drains flowing into the Yamuna River, aiming to prevent monsoon flooding and improve river cleanliness. Inspecting a drain with Lieutenant Governor V.K. Saxena, Ms. Gupta stated that the desilting is underway using advanced machinery, with bi-weekly inspections ensuring timely completion and quality control. The Chief Minister criticized the previous Aam Aadmi Party government for neglecting drain maintenance, contrasting their approach with the BJP government’s hands-on, on-the-ground monitoring. In addition to the desilting project, Ms. Gupta announced the construction of a new 59-acre park in Vipin Garden, Uttam Nagar.
