**Hyderabad, April 8, 2025** – A 32-year-old man, Md. Basharath, has been arrested for allegedly attempting to murder his wife, Shabana Parveen, 22, by attacking her with cement bricks. The incident, which occurred near a private hospital in Gachibowli on April 1, came to light after a video of the assault went viral on social media.
According to police, a passerby witnessed the attack around 10 p.m. near a high-tension line in Raghavendra Colony. When the witness attempted to intervene, Basharath allegedly turned on him as well. The witness, after failing to reach emergency services via Dial 100, sought help from a nearby shop owner. Hospital staff later identified the victim as Shabana Parveen, who had been discharged after treatment for gynecological issues. She remains unconscious and in critical condition.
Basharath, an interior designer, was arrested on April 2 and produced before court the following day. He has been charged under Section 109(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023. The police investigation is ongoing.
