**Kochi, April 5, 2025** – St. Xavier’s College for Women in Aluva has been appointed Vice-Chair for Teaching and Education for the United Nations Academic Impact Sustainable Development Goal 5 Hub. The three-year term, running from April 2025 to December 2027, recognizes the college’s dedication to gender equality and sustainable development.

The UN’s Department of Global Communications cited the college’s inclusive learning environments, women’s empowerment initiatives, and integration of sustainability into its academic curriculum as key factors in the appointment. The college’s research on educational accessibility and mentorship programs for underserved communities also contributed to its selection.

In its new role, St. Xavier’s College will play a leading part in global higher education efforts to advance the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals.
