**Chennai, India:** Delhi Capitals’ (DC) wicketkeeper-batsman KL Rahul delivered a breathtaking performance against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the IPL 2025, smashing a magnificent half-century at the MA Chidambaram Stadium on Saturday.
Opening the innings, Rahul blazed his way to a 77-run knock off 51 balls, studded with six fours and three sixes. His innings propelled DC to a challenging 183/6. This was Rahul’s 38th IPL fifty, a feat that places him alongside Royal Challengers Bangalore’s (RCB) star batsman Virat Kohli.
Rahul’s achievement is even more significant; he now jointly holds the third position for most fifties as an opener in IPL history, with 40 such scores. This ties him with Kohli, who also boasts 40 fifties as an opener. David Warner leads the chart with 60 fifties as an opener, followed by Shikhar Dhawan with 49. Notably, neither Warner nor Dhawan found buyers in the recent IPL mega auction.
Rahul also surpassed Kieron Pollard’s tally of runs against CSK, moving to sixth place on the all-time list of highest run-scorers against the Chennai side with 630 runs. Pollard, who is no longer playing in the IPL, slips to seventh with 583 runs. Virat Kohli tops the list with a massive 1084 runs against CSK, followed by Dhawan with 1057 runs. No other player has reached the 1000-run mark against CSK.
