**REDMOND, WA –** Nintendo is launching a unique pre-order system for its highly anticipated Nintendo Switch 2 console. Starting May 8th, 2025, eligible Nintendo Account holders in the US and Canada will be able to register their interest on the My Nintendo Store for a chance to purchase the new system and select accessories.
The pre-order process will operate as a lottery system. While registration is open to all US and Canadian Nintendo Account holders 18 and older, priority will be given to those who meet specific criteria: as of April 2nd, 2025, they must have held a paid Nintendo Switch Online membership for at least 12 months, have opted in to share gameplay data, and accumulated at least 50 total gameplay hours. Those meeting these requirements will receive invitations to purchase first, on a first-come, first-served basis. Invitations will then be sent to remaining eligible registrants.
Invitations will be valid for only 72 hours and will be sent to the email address associated with the registered Nintendo Account. Purchasers are limited to one console and one of each accessory per account. Payment must be made in full at checkout using Visa, Mastercard, Google Pay, or Apple Pay (Nintendo eShop gift cards are not accepted). Shipping is available to US and Canadian addresses, including P.O. boxes. Note that release-day delivery is not guaranteed.
The Nintendo Switch 2, featuring three play modes (TV, Tabletop, and Handheld), will be available for a limited time through Fall 2025.
