**Mumbai, April 5, 2025** – BookMyShow has reportedly removed stand-up comedian Kunal Kamra from its platform, according to a claim by Shiv Sena functionary Rahool Kanal. Kanal, the social media in-charge for the Eknath Shinde-led faction of the Shiv Sena, publicly thanked BookMyShow CEO Ashish Hemrajani for the action, praising the company for maintaining a “clean” portal and prioritizing “pure entertainment.”
Kanal’s statement follows a previous incident where he and other Shiv Sainiks allegedly vandalized Kamra’s studio after a performance in which Kamra allegedly made a derogatory remark about Chief Minister Shinde. Mumbai Police have issued three summons to Kamra, who is believed to be in Puducherry, but he has not yet responded.
While BookMyShow has yet to officially comment on the removal, Kanal’s letter to Hemrajani expresses gratitude for the company’s responsiveness and commitment to its values. He emphasized that while Mumbaikars appreciate all forms of art, they do not tolerate personal attacks.
