Vijayawada, April 5, 2025 – Rajampet Member of Parliament P.V. Midhun Reddy has approached the Supreme Court seeking protection from arrest in connection with an ongoing liquor scam investigation by the Andhra Pradesh Criminal Investigation Department (CID).
According to a YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) press release, CID teams travelled to Delhi with the intention of arresting Mr. Reddy, despite him not being named as an accused in the case. This follows the dismissal of his anticipatory bail petition by the High Court on April 3rd, 2025, on the grounds that he was not an accused.
The YSRCP alleges that the CID is employing coercive tactics, including threatening individuals to provide false statements and implicate specific people to justify raids and arrests. The investigation, launched in September 2023, focuses on alleged large-scale irregularities within the Andhra Pradesh State Beverages Corporation. The High Court, in dismissing Mr. Reddy’s anticipatory bail plea, cited the lack of charges against him as the reason for its decision.
