Sat Apr 05 10:48:37 UTC 2025: ## 86 Maoists Surrender in Telangana, Total Surrenders for 2025 Reach 224

**Hyderabad, April 5, 2025** – Eighty-six members of the banned CPI (Maoist) party surrendered to Telangana Police in Bhadradri Kothagudem district today. This significant surrender brings the total number of Maoist surrenders in Telangana in 2025 to 224. The surrenders are attributed to the state government’s ‘Operation Chueyutha’ program, which offers rehabilitation and welfare schemes to former Maoist cadres and their families.

The surrendered individuals held various ranks within the CPI (Maoist), including ACMs, party members, and militia members. Police officials highlighted the success of the program in persuading those who had participated in violent activities to give up arms. The growing awareness among Maoist cadres of the benefits offered, coupled with the Telangana government’s focus on tribal welfare, are cited as key factors contributing to the increasing number of surrenders.

Several government schemes providing livelihood support and settlement options for tribal communities have played a crucial role in this development. The police used the tragic examples of a woman who lost her leg and another who died due to Maoist violence to emphasize the harm caused by continued insurgency.

Inspector General of Police S. Chandrasekhar Reddy addressed a press conference announcing the surrenders. He encouraged remaining cadres to surrender, promising immediate support for livelihood and rehabilitation, with additional financial assistance for top leaders seeking long-term settlement. The police urged cadres to contact the nearest police station or district officials directly or through family members.
