**Hyderabad, April 4, 2025** – The Hyderabad City Cyber Crime Unit has successfully recovered ₹3,28,01,875 for 54 victims of online fraud in March 2025. The funds, frozen in accounts linked to the accused, were returned following court orders.

The majority of cases (32 victims, ₹1.62 crore) involved investment scams promising unrealistic returns. Other significant scams included FedEx parcel and money laundering schemes (14 victims, ₹1.57 crore), QR code fraud, credit card fraud, customer care impersonation, and APK file scams. One notable case involved a 52-year-old who lost ₹47 lakh to an OTP fraud, with ₹40 lakh subsequently recovered.

Hyderabad Police issued a strong warning against various online scams, including fake investment schemes on platforms like Telegram, WhatsApp, Instagram, X, and Facebook, urging citizens to invest only through SEBI-approved channels. They also cautioned against fraudulent calls impersonating government officials and warned against downloading malicious APK files sent via SMS or WhatsApp.

The police emphasized the importance of prompt reporting via the cybercrime helpline 1930 or cybercrime.gov.in to maximize the chances of recovering stolen funds. The unit’s efforts in recovering the substantial amount have been widely praised.
