Tue Apr 01 04:30:00 UTC 2025: ## Auto Sales Expected to be Lackluster in March 2025, Despite Some Sectoral Growth

**NEW DELHI, April 1, 2025** – India’s auto sector is bracing for the release of March 2025 sales figures, with expectations of a generally weak performance across key segments. While some manufacturers are projected to see growth, overall sales are anticipated to fall short of average monthly registrations.

According to Zee Business research, several factors are contributing to the subdued outlook. Passenger vehicle sales are expected to be hampered by discounts and unsold inventory, while the two-wheeler segment may see a shift in consumer preference from motorcycles to scooters.

However, some bright spots are anticipated. The commercial vehicle sector is projected to show strength, with VECV (Volvo Eicher Commercial Vehicles) anticipating a 43% month-on-month increase in sales. Other commercial vehicle manufacturers, including Hero MotoCorp and Ashok Leyland, are also expected to report strong volume growth. The tractor segment is also forecast to perform well, driven by robust rural demand in anticipation of a successful Rabi harvest.

Major automakers, including Maruti Suzuki, Hyundai, Tata Motors, Mahindra & Mahindra, Hero MotoCorp, and Bajaj Auto, will release their individual sales data starting April 1st. Investors and analysts will be closely monitoring these reports to assess the overall health of the Indian automobile market. While some manufacturers, particularly in the commercial vehicle sector, may report positive growth, the overall picture for March 2025 is expected to be one of relatively weak sales across major segments.
