**Belagavi, Karnataka – March 22, 2025** – A massive fire broke out at the Sri Halasiddhanath Cooperative Sugar Factory in Nippani, Karnataka, on Friday afternoon, causing an estimated ₹5 crore in damages. While no injuries were reported, firefighters battled the blaze for over four hours.
The fire, which originated in the factory boiler around 4 p.m., required a significant response. Fire tenders from across district lines, including Sankeshwar, Chikkodi, and even Kagal and Hammidwada in neighboring Kolhapur district, Maharashtra, were deployed. Additional support came from several nearby sugar mills and municipal corporations.
Factory officials estimated the losses at over ₹5 crore. District Fire and Emergency Services officer Shashidhar Neelgar expressed gratitude to all the volunteers and personnel involved in extinguishing the fire. Factory committee president Malagonda Patil, Vice-President Pawan Kumar Patil, and Managing Director Appasaheb Shirgave were present at the scene. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
