Wed Mar 19 12:30:00 UTC 2025: ## Thousands of Tamil Nadu Job Seekers Stranded After Last-Minute Exam Cancellation

**Hyderabad, March 19, 2025** – Hundreds of aspiring Assistant Loco Pilots from Tamil Nadu were left stranded in Hyderabad today after the Railway Recruitment Board (RRB) abruptly cancelled Computer-Based Test II (CBT-II) for the recruitment at the last minute. The cancellation, announced just as candidates arrived at exam centers, caused widespread anger and frustration among those who had travelled for over 20 hours from various parts of Tamil Nadu.

Many candidates endured arduous journeys, often in crowded unreserved train compartments, incurring significant travel, food, and accommodation costs. The exam, scheduled for 2:30 PM, was cancelled due to a reported technical glitch, leaving aspirants facing locked gates and wasted expenses.

Approximately 6,000 candidates, shortlisted from a pool of 50,000 who took CBT-I, were allocated exam centers outside Tamil Nadu, a decision that has been heavily criticized. The late release of hall tickets, only on March 15th, further exacerbated the difficulties faced by the candidates in securing timely travel arrangements. Some candidates reported having to cancel pre-booked tickets and spend as much as ₹1,500 on bus fares.

Madurai MP Su. Venkatesan has accused the RRB of “gross negligence,” demanding a detailed inquiry into the incident and compensation for the candidates. He also called for future CBT-II exams to be held within Tamil Nadu. The MP highlighted the RRB’s failure to address earlier requests to conduct the exam in the state.

The cancellation has sparked outrage among job aspirants, raising serious concerns about the RRB’s credibility and leaving many wondering when and where the exam will be rescheduled. The arduous return journey now looms large, further compounding the distress of the affected individuals.
