Wed Mar 19 14:20:00 UTC 2025: ## Elite Runner Eilish McColgan Condemns Body-Shaming After London Marathon Prep Video

**London, UK** – Commonwealth champion Eilish McColgan has spoken out against the online body-shaming she faced after posting a training video ahead of her London Marathon debut. The 34-year-old runner, who shared a video of herself on a treadmill, was targeted by comments suggesting she had anorexia.

McColgan, known for her 10,000m prowess, is adamant that she is healthy and her physique is not indicative of an eating disorder. She expressed frustration at the recurring nature of such comments, stating, “I’m numb to it now, it doesn’t affect me. The reason I call it out is so people don’t think that is how they have to look to be an athlete. It is dangerous.”

She warned of the detrimental impact such comments have on aspiring athletes, emphasizing the seriousness of eating disorders and the importance of not conflating a slender build with illness. McColgan stated that she maintains a normal diet and highlighted the absurdity of suggestions that her training regime revolves around calorie restriction. “I eat what I want,” she said. “I got a box of doughnuts the other day because I wanted a box of doughnuts.”

McColgan’s focus now shifts to the London Marathon, a new challenge she’s embracing despite a previous injury-related withdrawal. She describes the transition to marathon running as “a new sport really,” acknowledging the significant undertaking of a 26-mile race. Despite the challenges, McColgan is excited about this new chapter in her career.
