Mon Mar 17 09:30:00 UTC 2025: ## Severe Weather Threatens Region This Weekend
**DETROIT, MI (March 15, 2025)** – Unseasonably warm temperatures and strong winds will usher in a weekend of severe weather across the region, forecasters warned this morning. A line of showers and thunderstorms is expected to move through Saturday, bringing with it gusts up to 45 mph. A Wind Advisory is in effect until 8:00 PM Saturday.
Saturday night into Sunday morning will see another round of thunderstorms, some potentially strong to severe. The Storm Prediction Center has issued a Marginal Risk (1 out of 5) for severe weather for the area. While the risk is lower locally than in the Gulf States (where a High Risk is in effect), damaging winds and isolated tornadoes are possible.
Sunday will bring a continued chance of showers and thunderstorms, primarily in the morning, before clearing to partly cloudy skies in the evening. Temperatures will plummet, reaching a high of only 54°F on Sunday. Overnight lows will drop into the upper 20s by Monday morning.
Dry weather is anticipated until mid-week, with temperatures rising to the 60s by Tuesday and Wednesday. Another system will bring a chance of rain showers late Wednesday into Thursday, possibly transitioning to a few snowflakes as colder air moves in. The first day of spring, Thursday, will see highs in the mid-40s.
