**KUALA LUMPUR, MALAYSIA** – Bahrain created an unprecedented and unwanted record in T20I cricket history on Friday, becoming the first team ever to fail to score a single run in a Super Over. The remarkable event unfolded during a thrilling match against Hong Kong in the Malaysia T20I tri-series at the Bayuemas Cricket Oval.
Hong Kong, batting first, posted a challenging 129/7, thanks to contributions from Zeeshan Ali (29), Shahid Wasif (31), and Nasrulla Rana (14). Bahrain’s chase was spearheaded by opener Prashant Kurup (31), with captain Ahmer Bin Nasir and Imran Anwar guiding them close to victory. A dramatic final over saw Bin Nasir hit a six to tie the scores, only to be dismissed on the final ball, forcing a Super Over.
Under the Super Over rules, the chasing team bats first. Bahrain sent in Bin Nasir and Sohail Ahmed, but Ehsan Khan dismissed both batsmen within three balls, leaving Bahrain with a humiliating score of zero. Hong Kong then easily secured victory, needing only a single run from Babar Hayat to clinch the match. This marks the first instance in the 16-year history of the Super Over format that a team has been bowled out without scoring a single run.
