**CHITTOOR, Andhra Pradesh (March 16, 2025)** – The Chittoor district police have launched six new Shakti teams dedicated to combating crime against women. These teams will address issues such as domestic violence, harassment, and eve-teasing. Three teams will operate in the Chittoor sub-division, with one team each deployed in Nagari, Palamaner, and Kuppam sub-divisions.

Each team comprises seven personnel, including two women, and is led by an SI or ASI rank officer. They will patrol public areas like bus stations, schools, parks, and major intersections in plain clothes to facilitate quick apprehension of offenders. Responding to distress calls through the Shakti mobile app, Dial 100, and Dial 112 is a top priority.

Beyond enforcement, the teams will partner with educational institutions and community groups to conduct awareness campaigns on women’s safety and promote the Shakti app. Additional SP Rajasekhar Raju emphasized the importance of visible policing and community involvement, urging women to download the app for faster emergency response.
