Fri Mar 14 13:40:00 UTC 2025: ## Americas Witness Stunning ‘Blood Moon’ Lunar Eclipse; Europe Sees Partial Show
**London/Bogota, March 14, 2025** – A spectacular total lunar eclipse, popularly known as a “Blood Moon,” captivated skywatchers across the Americas, parts of Western Europe, and Africa on March 13-14. The celestial event, caused by the Earth’s shadow completely obscuring the moon, transformed the lunar surface into a deep red hue due to Rayleigh scattering of sunlight in Earth’s atmosphere.
The Americas enjoyed the best views of the total eclipse, with breathtaking images flooding social media platforms like X. Stunning photographs showed the moon’s dramatic transformation into a fiery red orb against the night sky. The eclipse lasted approximately 65 minutes.
While Western Europe experienced a partial lunar eclipse, with observers in cities like London catching glimpses of the moon partially obscured in Earth’s shadow, the phenomenon was unfortunately not visible from India, which was celebrating Holi on the same day.
Amateur and professional astronomers alike shared their awe-inspiring captures, showcasing the rare and beautiful spectacle. One unedited photo on X garnered nearly 25,000 views.
Skywatchers who missed this event will have another chance to witness a total lunar eclipse on September 7-8, 2025. This eclipse, lasting a longer 82 minutes, will be most visible from parts of Asia, Australia, and the Pacific.
