**Mumbai, India** – Mumbai Indians secured their place in the Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2025 final with a commanding 47-run victory over Gujarat Giants in a thrilling eliminator match at the Brabourne Stadium. The win sets up a final clash against the Delhi Capitals on March 15th, also at the Brabourne Stadium.
Mumbai, electing to bat first after Gujarat won the toss, posted a formidable 213 runs. Half-centuries from Hayley Matthews (77) and Nat Sciver-Brunt (77) formed the backbone of their innings, while captain Harmanpreet Kaur provided a quickfire 36 off just 12 balls. Daniel Gibson was the pick of the Gujarat bowlers with two wickets.
Gujarat’s chase got off to a promising start, but the loss of Beth Mooney early dealt a significant blow. Despite fighting knocks from Phoebe Litchfield (31) and Gibson (34), and a late flourish from Bharati Fulmali (30), Gujarat’s batting lineup crumbled under pressure. Matthews claimed three wickets for Mumbai, while Amelia Kerr took two, further contributing to Gujarat’s downfall. Three Gujarat batters were also run out.
Mumbai’s consistent dominance over Gujarat continued, extending their unbeaten record against them to seven matches. This is Mumbai’s third appearance in the eliminator round, and their second final appearance in the WPL. Their first WPL title came in the inaugural season.
