**PALAKKAD, March 14, 2025** – Three individuals, including a woman, have been arrested in Palakkad, Kerala, for allegedly robbing an astrologer in a honeytrap scheme. The incident occurred on Wednesday afternoon in Kozhinjampara, near Palakkad.
Police identified the arrested suspects as Ranjith from Nallepilly, S. Sreejesh from Kuttippuram, and Maimoona from Malappuram. Seven more suspects, including the alleged mastermind N. Pratheesh, remain at large. Pratheesh has a history of criminal activity, including murder.
The astrologer was lured to a house under the pretense of performing a ritual to resolve the woman’s marital problems. Once there, he was robbed of his gold chain, mobile phone, and ₹2,000. Compromising photos and videos were taken of the astrologer, and he was subsequently blackmailed for a ₹20 lakh ransom.
The perpetrators’ escape was thwarted by a coincidental police presence investigating an unrelated incident. The ensuing chaos allowed the astrologer to escape, and one of the suspects, a woman, was apprehended after falling and behaving erratically in public.
The astrologer filed a complaint with the Kollengode police, who are actively pursuing the remaining suspects. The investigation is ongoing.
