Fri Mar 14 15:15:37 UTC 2025: **Bengaluru’s “Namma Raste” Conference Charts Course for Better Urban Mobility**

**Bengaluru, March 14, 2025** – A three-day conference, “Namma Raste” (“Our Streets”), concluded in Bengaluru, offering a comprehensive roadmap for improving the city’s urban mobility and livability. Organized by the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) in collaboration with WRI India, the event brought together over 65 organizations, including government agencies, research institutions, and citizen groups.

The conference, the second of its kind, centered on data-driven, sustainable, and citizen-centric solutions. A key outcome was the release of “Namma Raste Kaipidi,” a manual outlining best practices for sustainable street design, engineering, and maintenance, a first-of-its-kind resource in India.

Participants showcased a wide array of initiatives, from improving school zone safety and station precincts to promoting cycling, enhancing bus stop infrastructure, and advocating for 15-minute city models. The event highlighted the potential of small-scale, citizen-driven projects to significantly impact urban life, contrasting with the often-discussed large-scale development projects.

The conference underscored the importance of supporting grassroots efforts to achieve sustainable and inclusive urban development in Bengaluru. The “Namma Raste Kaipidi” manual and the collaborative spirit demonstrated at the event are expected to significantly contribute to the city’s future urban planning and development.
