Wed Mar 12 12:58:37 UTC 2025: ## Kerala Doctors to Protest Alleged Vindictive Actions by Health Director
**Thiruvananthapuram, March 12, 2025** – The Kerala Government Medical Officers’ Association (KGMOA) will hold a sit-in protest on March 18th outside the Director of Health Services’ office in Thiruvananthapuram. The protest is in response to what the KGMOA alleges are vindictive actions by the Director against doctors, stemming from an alleged failure to address significant staffing shortages.
The KGMOA claims approximately 500 doctor vacancies have created overwhelming workloads. They accuse the Director of increasing doctors’ responsibilities without attempting to fill these vacancies and of initiating disciplinary action against doctors for refusing VIP duty, an action they say contradicts the Chief Secretary’s directives. Further, the KGMOA criticizes the Director’s delay in processing routine April transfers.
The association has warned of indefinite work boycotts if the Health Department fails to meet their demands. The protest highlights growing concerns over working conditions and staffing levels within Kerala’s medical system.
