Mon Mar 10 18:45:48 UTC 2025: ## Elon Musk Claims Massive Cyberattack Targeted X

**BENGALURU, INDIA – March 11, 2025** – Elon Musk alleges that a massive cyberattack targeted X (formerly Twitter) on Monday, causing widespread outages affecting tens of thousands of users. The outages, which began early Monday morning and peaked around noon Eastern Time, lasted for at least an hour and impacted users primarily along the U.S. coasts.

According to outage tracking website Downdetector.com, over 40,000 users reported problems accessing the platform. The issues were primarily reported via the X app (56%) with website access problems accounting for 33% of reports.

Musk, in a post on X, stated that while the platform faces daily attacks, this incident involved significant resources suggesting the involvement of a large, coordinated group or even a nation-state. He added that tracing the source of the attack is underway.

This is not the first time X has experienced significant technical difficulties. In March 2023, the platform suffered glitches lasting over an hour, impacting functionality including link access and image loading. The investigation into Monday’s outage is ongoing.
