**Karur, Tamil Nadu – March 11, 2025** – A third-year undergraduate woman was allegedly abducted in Karur district on Monday, sparking a police investigation. Police sources state that the woman was abducted by a group of individuals after she disembarked from a bus en route to college.
The prime suspect is identified as 22-year-old Nandakumar, whose parents had sought the woman’s hand in marriage, a proposal rejected by her family. Complicating the matter, Nandakumar’s mother and grandmother were fellow passengers on the bus the victim was traveling on. They are reported to have engaged the victim in conversation before the abduction.
Following an alert, police apprehended the car driver, Nandakumar’s mother, and another passenger, seizing the vehicle used in the abduction. Special teams are currently searching for Nandakumar and the abducted woman, last seen in Jameen Athur. The Thanthonrimalai police have registered a case under Sections 126 (ii) and 137 (ii) of the BNS Act. The investigation is ongoing.
