Tue Mar 11 16:12:53 UTC 2025: ## Kovilpatti Van Driver Attacked, One Arrested
**KOVILPATTI, March 11, 2025** – A 55-year-old van driver, Sankaranarayanan, was attacked and injured by a gang of five armed men in Natarajapuram early this morning. The incident occurred around 1 a.m. when the driver was returning home. According to residents, the gang, wielding machetes and knives, damaged parked vehicles and smashed windows of several houses before attacking Sankaranarayanan, who had confronted them. He sustained multiple cut injuries to his head and hands and was admitted to Tirunelveli Medical College Hospital after receiving first aid at Kovilpatti Government Hospital.
Police have arrested 21-year-old C. Karthi, who they say had prior enmity with the victim. Karthi is suspected to have been involved in the attack along with two juveniles and others. While residents reported wider damage to property, police claim only the victim’s van was damaged. The investigation continues, with efforts underway to apprehend the remaining suspects. A case has been registered by Kovilpatti West police.
