KARUR, March 11, 2025 – A third-year undergraduate student was rescued by Karur Town police on Monday after being abducted by a group of men, including her alleged abductor, T. Nandagopal (22). Nandagopal, who had reportedly been pursuing the student romantically for a year, abducted her from the street as she was walking to college. Police acted swiftly on a complaint, detaining Nandagopal’s mother and another individual before locating the student in a house at Kodangipatti near Dindigul district.
Nandagopal and four accomplices, identified as Karuppasamy, Palanisamy, and Saravanan, were subsequently arrested. Police believe the abduction stemmed from the family’s refusal to consent to a marriage between Nandagopal and the student. The student is safe and has been reunited with her family.
