THIRUVANANTHAPURAM, March 6, 2025 – A seminar titled “Evolving Role of Women in Science” will be held this Saturday, March 8th, at the Priyadarsini Planetarium in Thiruvananthapuram to mark International Women’s Day. The event, organized by the Gender in Physics Working Group of the Indian Physics Association (IPA), will feature prominent speakers and panel discussions.
Padma Bhushan awardee and theoretical physicist Ashoke Sen will be the distinguished guest. Presentations will cover topics such as the IPA’s efforts towards gender equity and contemporary socio-cultural perspectives on gender. A panel discussion will address the challenges and opportunities facing women in research and academia. The event is a collaboration between the IPA, IISER Thiruvananthapuram, IIST Thiruvananthapuram, KSSTM, and the Breakthrough Science Society’s Thiruvananthapuram chapter.
