**Paradip, Odisha:** A massive fire ravaged the Nehru Bangla Fishing Harbour in Paradip, Odisha on Thursday evening, destroying at least 17 boats and posing a significant threat to the remaining vessels. While no fatalities have been reported, the blaze, which began around 5 pm at jetty number 1, quickly spread due to exploding gas cylinders and diesel tanks onboard the vessels. Each boat contained over 3,000 liters of diesel and fishing equipment, creating a highly flammable situation.
At least 10 fire tenders are battling the blaze, but the cause of the fire remains under investigation. The harbour houses approximately 650 large boats and 400 indigenous boats, making the situation extremely precarious. The extent of the damage is still being assessed.
