**UDHAGAMANDALAM, March 5, 2025** – A district-level workshop focusing on the Forest Rights Act, 2006, was held in Udhagamandalam, Nilgiris district, on Wednesday. The event, organized by the Nilgiris district administration, aimed to ascertain the rights of Scheduled Tribes and other traditional forest dwellers in the region.
Officials including Nilgiris District Collector Lakshmi Bhavya Tanneeru, Nilgiris Divisional Forest Officer S. Gowtham, Deputy Director of Mudumalai Tiger Reserve C. Vidhya, and Director of the Tribal Welfare Department S. Annadurai participated. The workshop addressed the demands of tribal communities and investigated whether their rights under the Act were being adequately protected. Efforts were made to resolve issues faced by these communities.
