Wed Mar 05 05:26:44 UTC 2025: ## Trump Sets Record for Longest Address to Congress

**Washington, D.C. –** President Donald Trump delivered the longest address to a joint session of Congress in history on March 4th, 2025, exceeding the previous record held by President Bill Clinton. Trump’s speech lasted over an hour and 40 minutes, surpassing Clinton’s 2000 State of the Union address by more than 12 minutes.

According to the American Presidency Project at the University of California, Santa Barbara, which has tracked presidential speech lengths since 1964, Trump’s address shattered the previous record. While not technically a State of the Union address, given his recent inauguration, the speech’s length still constitutes a new benchmark.

The President concluded his address with the declaration, “The golden age of America has only just begun.” His speech was met with enthusiastic applause from Republican lawmakers, who chanted “Fight! Fight! Fight!” In contrast, Democratic members of Congress quickly departed the chamber following the conclusion of the address.
