Wed Mar 05 13:11:13 UTC 2025: ## Kerala Film Strike Averted After Government Agrees to Talks
**Kochi, March 5, 2025** – A planned token strike by the Kerala Film Chamber of Commerce has been put on hold following assurances from the Kerala government that it will address the industry’s concerns. The chamber, representing producers, distributors, and exhibitors, had threatened a strike beginning June 1st to protest issues including double taxation on movie tickets and high electricity tariffs.
Following a meeting Wednesday, Chamber President B.R. Jacob announced that Culture Minister Saji Cherian has invited the chamber for discussions after March 10th. “We are hopeful the government will favorably consider our demands,” Jacob stated.
The chamber also addressed concerns about violence in films, stating that the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) is responsible for regulating content, not the film chamber itself. The planned strike has been temporarily suspended pending the outcome of the upcoming negotiations with the government.
