**Patna, March 5, 2025** – The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) launched a major crackdown on a railway examination paper leak scam, arresting 26 individuals, including a senior railway official. The operation, conducted overnight on March 3-4, targeted a departmental examination for Chief Loco Inspectors (CLI) under the East Central Railway (ECR) at Mughal Sarai, Uttar Pradesh.

The CBI alleges that a Senior Divisional Electrical Engineer (Operations) orchestrated the scam, writing the exam questions by hand and distributing them through intermediaries, including a loco pilot and an office supervisor. Seventeen candidates, all current loco pilots, were apprehended with copies of the leaked question paper. They allegedly paid bribes to obtain the answers.

Searches conducted at eight locations yielded ₹1.17 crore in cash, believed to be bribe money collected from the candidates. The seized handwritten question papers matched the original exam paper. The CBI’s investigation continues.
