Tue Mar 04 17:03:54 UTC 2025: ## Pakistan Military Base Attack: Nine Dead, Dozens Injured in Bannu

**Bannu, Pakistan (March 4, 2025)** – A coordinated militant attack on a military base in Bannu, northwestern Pakistan, resulted in at least nine deaths and 25 injuries, according to hospital officials and local police. The assault, which occurred during the evening hours of Ramadan, involved two suicide bombings that breached the base’s perimeter wall, followed by a firefight.

Jaish Al-Fursan, a group affiliated with the Pakistani Taliban, claimed responsibility for the attack, stating that explosive-laden vehicles were used. While the military has yet to release an official casualty count, Bannu District Hospital reported nine fatalities, including four children, who lived near the base and were caught in the crossfire. The hospital spokesperson, Muhammad Noman, described significant damage to nearby buildings, resulting in the high number of casualties.

A security official, speaking anonymously, detailed the sequence of events, explaining that five to six militants attempted to enter the base after the wall was breached. These militants were subsequently eliminated, but operations in the area reportedly remain ongoing. Police officer Zahid Khan described plumes of smoke and continued gunfire following the initial explosions.

This marks the third militant attack in Pakistan since the start of Ramadan. Bannu has been targeted by militants in the past, with a suicide car bombing in November killing 12 troops. The frequency of these attacks raises serious concerns about security in the region.
