Rangareddy, Telangana – A daring daylight robbery saw four masked men steal nearly Rs 30 lakh from an SBI ATM in Rangareddy district, Telangana, early Sunday morning. The heist, captured on CCTV, unfolded in just four minutes.
The robbers, who police suspect are part of a Haryana-based gang, arrived at the ATM around 1:56 am. One man disabled the external CCTV camera with spray paint, while another cut the emergency siren wires. Inside, three men wielding an iron rod and gas cutter efficiently opened the ATM, removing Rs 29.69 lakh. They even rolled down the ATM’s shutter before leaving at 2:00 am.
Police, who have traced the robbers’ car through various CCTV cameras along their escape route, confirmed five individuals were involved: one driver, one lookout, and three inside the ATM. Assistant Commissioner of Police Raju revealed that the gang likely targeted another ATM in Mylardevpally but abandoned the attempt after receiving an electric shock while trying to disable the alarm. Investigators believe this gang is responsible for similar ATM heists in Bengaluru and Hosur, Tamil Nadu.
Multiple police teams are currently working to apprehend the culprits and recover the stolen cash.
