Sat Feb 22 20:40:00 UTC 2025: ## Barcelona Top La Liga After Late Substitute Goals Secure Win

**Las Palmas, Canary Islands –** Barcelona climbed to the top of La Liga with a 2-0 victory over Las Palmas, thanks to late goals from substitutes Dani Olmo and Ferran Torres. The win puts them one point ahead of Atletico Madrid, who earlier beat Valencia 3-0.

Olmo, scoring his first goal since November, broke the deadlock in the 62nd minute, his shot deflecting off the crossbar and into the net following a pass from fellow substitute Lamine Yamal. Torres then added a second in stoppage time, also seeing his shot rebound off the woodwork before finding the back of the net. His goal came after a Raphinha assist.

Despite controlling possession, Barcelona struggled to break down Las Palmas’ defense for much of the game. Raphinha was denied a penalty early in the second half, a decision confirmed by VAR. Las Palmas also had opportunities, with former Barcelona forward Sandro Ramírez threatening on several occasions.

Barcelona’s impressive use of substitutes highlights their squad depth. The club has now scored 12 goals from substitutes in La Liga this season, second only to Atletico Madrid’s 15.

Real Madrid have the opportunity to equal Barcelona’s points tally at the top of the table if they defeat Girona on Sunday.
