NEW DELHI – Rekha Gupta, Delhi’s newly-elected Chief Minister, has begun her term by implementing the Ayushman Bharat health insurance scheme, a key initiative of the national BJP government. This follows the BJP’s decisive victory in the recent Delhi Assembly elections, ending a decade of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) rule. Gupta criticized the previous AAP administration for failing to implement Ayushman Bharat, claiming it deprived Delhi residents of essential healthcare.
The new Delhi cabinet, in its first meeting, also discussed the Mahila Samriddhi Yojna and agreed to present 14 pending CAG reports to the Assembly. Gupta met with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, expressing commitment to a “double engine government” focused on public welfare and good governance.
