**NEW DELHI, INDIA (February 18, 2025)** – Tesla is set to launch operations in India, following a significant development after a recent meeting between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Tesla CEO Elon Musk in the United States. Musk has initiated the recruitment process, advertising for 13 different positions in Mumbai and Delhi.

The move comes after India recently reduced customs duties on imported luxury cars from 110% to 70%, a key demand of Musk’s for several years. This reduction significantly lowers the import costs of Tesla vehicles.

While a meeting between Musk and Modi was initially scheduled for April of last year, discussions regarding import duties and the establishment of an assembly unit in India stalled. India had previously requested the establishment of a local assembly unit, a point of contention that has now apparently been resolved following Modi’s recent US visit.

Tesla’s recruitment drive includes roles such as Inside Sales Advisor, Customer Support Supervisor, Parts Advisor, and Service Technician, indicating a full-fledged market entry is imminent. Tesla vehicles are expected to soon grace Indian roads.
