Wed Feb 19 11:12:47 UTC 2025: ## BJP Set to Form Delhi Government After 27 Years; Inauguration Ceremony Planned for February 20th

**New Delhi:** The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is gearing up to form the government in Delhi after a 27-year hiatus. A meeting of the BJP legislature party is scheduled today, overseen by observers Ravi Shankar Prasad and O.P. Dhanakhar, to decide on the next Chief Minister. The swearing-in ceremony is planned for February 20th at 12 pm at Ramlila Maidan, with invitations already being distributed.

Interestingly, former Delhi Chief Minister and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) national convener Arvind Kejriwal, along with AAP leader Atishi, have received invitations to the ceremony. Delhi BJP president Virendra Sachdeva confirmed this outreach, which is seen as a strategic move by the BJP to engage with the AAP’s core voter base – including slum dwellers, auto-rickshaw drivers, and cab drivers. Invitations have also been extended to representatives from these communities, along with farmers’ leaders.

The event is expected to be attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, several Union Ministers, and Chief Ministers from states governed by the National Democratic Alliance (NDA).

However, former Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia did not receive an invitation. Sisodia criticized the BJP’s delay in choosing a Chief Minister and expressed concern over the lack of attention to issues like electricity and water shortages, and uncertainty surrounding schools.
