**Dubai, UAE** – World No. 1 Iga Świątek secured her place in the third round of the WTA 1000 Dubai Tennis Championships after a dominant victory over Viktoria Azarenka on Tuesday. Świątek, a semi-finalist in Dubai last year, received a bye in the first round and dispatched Azarenka 6-0, 6-2 in just over an hour.
Her next opponent will be Ukraine’s Dayana Yastremska, who defeated Anastasia Potapova in her second-round match. The match between Świątek and Yastremska is scheduled for Wednesday at approximately 9:30 AM local time on Centre Court, following the match between Qinwen Zheng and Peyton Stearns.
This will be only the second meeting between the two players; Yastremska won their previous encounter in 2019 at the Fed Cup (now Billie Jean King Cup). Świątek will be looking to continue her strong start to the tournament and avenge that earlier loss.
