**BOSTON, MA –** Donnie Wahlberg is trading in his NYPD badge for a Boston one. The New Kids on the Block star and actor will reprise his role as Detective Danny Reagan in a new “Blue Bloods” spinoff, tentatively titled “Boston Blue,” CBS announced today. The straight-to-series order is slated for the 2025-2026 season.
Wahlberg, who played Reagan for 14 seasons on the original series, will be both star and executive producer. The show will see Reagan relocating to his hometown of Boston, where he’ll partner with a female detective from a prominent local law enforcement family. While the involvement of other “Blue Bloods” cast members remains unconfirmed, the spinoff marks Wahlberg’s second foray into Boston-based police procedurals, following his executive producer role on the reality series “Boston’s Finest.”
The news comes on the heels of a busy month for Wahlberg, which included a Super Bowl Dunkin’ commercial and his involvement in a bid to bring a WNBA team to Boston.
