**Bengaluru, February 17, 2025** – A 48-year-old earthmover owner, Ramaswamy, was hacked to death in Chintamani, Karnataka on Thursday, allegedly by his disgruntled driver who was owed ₹1.5 lakh in unpaid wages. Police arrested the driver, 28-year-old Nagesh, on Sunday in Kalaburagi district.

Nagesh had worked for Ramaswamy for 18 months, earning ₹1,000 per workday. According to police, when he demanded his outstanding salary, Ramaswamy threatened him. Nagesh then allegedly followed Ramaswamy to his farm and attacked him with a machete before fleeing. Police tracked Nagesh to his hometown following a complaint filed by Ramaswamy’s family and subsequent confession. The investigation is ongoing.
