Sun Feb 16 17:02:43 UTC 2025: ## Over 300 Indian Immigrants Deported from US, Land in Amritsar

**Amritsar, Punjab, India –** A United States military aircraft carrying approximately 112 undocumented Indian immigrants deported from the U.S. arrived at Amritsar’s Sri Guru Ram Dass Jee International Airport on Sunday night, February 16, 2025. This marks the third such deportation flight in recent weeks, following the arrival of 104 immigrants on February 5th and 116 on February 15th. The deportations are a direct result of President Donald Trump’s intensified crackdown on illegal immigration.

The deportees in the first two flights reported being handcuffed and shackled during the journey, a claim that sparked criticism from the opposition BJP-led government. While sources indicate that women on the second flight were not restrained, the treatment of those on the third flight remains unconfirmed.

The 112 individuals on the latest flight originated from various Indian states, with 31 from Punjab, 44 from Haryana, 33 from Gujarat, and a smaller number from Uttar Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh, and Uttarakhand.

Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann addressed the situation, urging the youth of Punjab to learn from the experience and avoid illegal immigration. He attributed the mass emigration to the failures of successive state governments and emphasized the need for focusing on the state’s socioeconomic development. The deportations serve as a stark warning about the risks associated with illegal immigration to the United States.
