**Hyderabad, February 17, 2025** – The Chief of Hyderabad Disaster Response & Asset Protection Agency (HYDRAA), A.V. Ranganath, has issued a warning against the purchase of illegally developed “farm plots” on the outskirts of the city. During Monday’s Prajavani grievance redressal programme, Mr. Ranganath received numerous complaints regarding the unauthorized sale of farmland for residential development.

He emphasized that the development of layouts on farmland is illegal under the Telangana Municipalities Act, 2019, and the Telangana Panchayat Raj Act, 2018. Mr. Ranganath clarified that plots must be a minimum of 2,000 square meters (20 guntas) to be legally classified as farmland. One specific complaint highlighted the illegal sale of such plots in Lakshmiguda village.

In total, HYDRAA received 64 complaints during the Prajavani program, encompassing issues such as road blockages and encroachment of parks and open spaces. The agency is urging citizens to exercise caution when purchasing land and to verify the legality of any development before committing to a purchase.
