Mon Feb 17 14:45:33 UTC 2025: ## Anganwadi Workers Protest in Chittoor Over Unfulfilled Promises
**Chittoor, Andhra Pradesh – February 17, 2025** – Anganwadi workers in Chittoor, Andhra Pradesh, staged a protest on Monday demanding the fulfillment of long-pending government promises. The demonstration, part of a statewide movement by the Andhra Pradesh Anganwadi Workers and Helpers Union, saw workers gathering outside the Collectorate.
Union leaders criticized both the previous YSRCP government and the current coalition government for neglecting their concerns. Key demands include a salary increase to ₹20,000, the release of pending bills, and the implementation of various welfare schemes. Workers highlighted that their salaries haven’t been raised since 2019, and that the upgrade of mini-centers to main centers, impacting over 5,600 workers in the district, remains stalled.
The union also pointed to the non-implementation of a 2022 Supreme Court ruling granting anganwadi workers graduate status. Despite repeated appeals, the protestors said their concerns remain unaddressed. They urged the government to discuss their issues during the upcoming State Assembly Budget session.
