Mon Feb 17 13:00:00 UTC 2025: ## Omaha Braces for Arctic Blast Following Significant Snowfall

**OMAHA, NEB. (WOWT) –** Omaha and surrounding areas are experiencing a significant winter storm, prompting a First Alert 6 Weather Day. The city is currently seeing snowfall accumulation, with 2 to 5 inches expected across the region, slightly less in the metro area and even less to the north. The heaviest snowfall is expected this morning, tapering off in the afternoon, though snow showers remain possible into the evening.

Dangerous cold will follow the snow. Temperatures will remain in the single digits all day, with wind chills well below zero. Overnight lows are forecast near -10 degrees, with wind chills potentially plunging as low as -30 degrees. This frigid weather is expected to persist through Thursday morning, with Thursday morning potentially bringing the coldest air temperatures of this arctic outbreak, although Tuesday will likely have the coldest wind chills.

While the forecast is bleak for the next few days, residents can look forward to a significant thaw. Next week’s forecast promises highs in the 50s, bringing much-needed relief after this intense cold snap.
