**New Delhi, February 16, 2025** – The Amir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, will undertake a two-day state visit to India on February 17-18, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) announced on Saturday. This will be his second state visit to India, the first being in March 2015.
During his visit, the Amir will hold discussions with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and President Droupadi Murmu, focusing on strengthening the multifaceted partnership between the two nations. He will be accompanied by a high-level delegation encompassing ministers, senior officials, and business representatives. A ceremonial welcome is planned at Rashtrapati Bhavan on February 18, followed by a banquet hosted by President Murmu.
The MEA highlighted the deep-rooted historical ties between India and Qatar, emphasizing the recent strengthening of relationships in trade, investment, energy, technology, culture, and people-to-people connections. The large Indian community in Qatar, which constitutes the largest expatriate group, was specifically recognized for its positive contribution to Qatar’s development. The visit is expected to further boost the already growing bilateral cooperation between the two countries.
